Hyper-theatrical in style, with amazing production design, it’s a surreal masterpiece.

  • nrh's rating of the film Outlaws

taking the most important (not the most noticeable) aesthetics of DOUBLE SUICIDE to the breaking point, shinoda takes a shuji teriyama work (this is q must for PASTORAL fans) and runs it through the wringer of late '60s technique and pre-modern theatrical modes. if the center of film artifice is theater, this may be the most theorized approach before rivette. also very funny and it moves like a freight train
