Ratings & Reviews

  1. Mighty Quinn's rating of the film Pacific 231

An interesting film because of the way it shows how images can be manipulated into exciting us though shots and editing, and without the use of human characters, or drama. Here, the main drama is an intense scene of a train docking at a yard. It sounds boring on paper, but Pacific 231 is sort of like the symphony films from German and Russia, like "Man with a Movie Camera". A good example of Hitchcock's "Pure Cinema"

  2. Malik's rating of the film Pacific 231 An “essay” by Jean Mitry: “This film is not a ‘documentary’, but an attempt to create an atmosphere by associating visual impressions and familiar sounds, intimately mingled with a musical score.”
