Ratings & Reviews

  1. FISCHER's rating of the film Pale Flower

  2. Steve McGee's rating of the film Pale Flower

In my top 5 favorite movies. Coolest of the cool - forget it, you'll never be as cool as a nihilistic yakuza. Wardrobe level 15/10. Kaga Mariko is 'cute as a button' - debutante gone wild slapping yen on the white cloth.

  6. Tibulle85's rating of the film Pale Flower

  8. Julian Horny's rating of the film Pale Flower

A beautiful dark film dressed in a perfect black and white.

  9. Ludovic72's rating of the film Pale Flower

  10. Mx Nihil's rating of the film Pale Flower

Japanese New Wave meets Film Noir and the result is better than anything that the French New Wave has ever produced. Fashionable existentialist disaffection is replaced by raw emptiness and biting nihilism.

  11. Christopher M. Jones's rating of the film Pale Flower

Doom sizzles out of every crevice. An underrated nihil-noir masterpiece.

  13. patchwork's rating of the film Pale Flower

  14. wayne roylance's rating of the film Pale Flower

a perfect ending caps a near-perfect film. japanese noir at its best.

  15. InsertOzuReferencehere's rating of the film Pale Flower

Everytime I watch this, I love it more.

  16. Michael Zyx MH Claes's rating of the film Pale Flower

===== An illegal gambling den, a French convertible, a beautiful rich & idle young lady, a bit clueless, a mobster trying to protect, her despite his corporation codes. Nihilistic & bewitching.

  17. hyacinthtears's rating of the film Pale Flower

so glad i stumbled upon this gem at the library, my only problem with this was some of the editing, otherwise it dazzles + the dream scene will forever be my favourite

  18. Rebecca DeLucia's rating of the film Pale Flower

one of the greatest ever hair-raising final scenes knocked flat by needless verbal repetition, a narrative incongruity to the symphonic telepathy of their boundness. still marvelous in total

  19. Muraki's rating of the film Pale Flower

this movie is about a dead soul (also a yakuza) looking for the meaning of joy in the life of the Modern tokyo gangsters' world after being released from jail. When Speaking about the last chances..this is the best movie to speak about. could be the best Japanese noir ever, every frame was so cool, the editing was great, Ryo Ikebe was also cool, elegant, sharp & determinant as muraki. a masterpiece

  20. Bram Vroonland's rating of the film Pale Flower

This must be one of the most visually stunning noirs I've ever seen. My God it was pretty. It's amazing how far the quality of the images can carry a movie because in retrospect I agree with some of the other reviewers: the characters are a little empty. Still an amazing experience.

  21. Jack Hemingway's rating of the film Pale Flower

I found myself not caring about the characters but being enthralled with the images presented to me. Must revisit soon.

  22. ry h's rating of the film Pale Flower

one of the best dream sequences i've ever seen, really. in a way the entire film felt like a dream. a dim one, and suffocating at that. but wow does mariko kaga breathe in some air. when the gamblers say, "it just isn't the same without her", you have to agree.

  23. Jesse Furgurson's rating of the film Pale Flower

Probably the greatest Yakuza movie I've ever seen.
