  • Rosina Rossini's rating of the film Paper Orchid

A confused film. One half formulaic 40's "woman in the workplace" drama, and the other half a murder mystery. The change between the two parts is sudden and does chop up the story into two halves that don't quite go together. However, the casting of Sidney James as Freddy Evans the alcoholic newspaper man was inspired! His best ever performance! And Hy Hazell is absolutely enthralling to watch. Great characters.
