Ratings & Reviews

  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Passage to Buddha

I really don't know how to rate this. The subs on the Korean DVD are atrocious.

  2. Mike Archibald's rating of the film Passage to Buddha

Subs on the pirated copy I viewed were bad enough to distort basic comprehensibility, which is rare for movies in my experience. About the meaning of particular scenes, I'm lost, but viewed as a whole the film has a sort of folk/religious poetry, with its protagonist achieving wisdom by spending years looking for the wrong thing. What communicates best across the cultural gap is the fluid, focused camera style.
