I'm slapping an extra star on this one just for the line, "Patrick wants his hand job". Almost choked on my tea. While there's an ongoing debate about this movie being a homage to the old horror films, mixing gore, comedy and horror, it feels as though they'd have more success with an original premise rather than a remake. Also looking at Sleepy Hollow, here. Overall this had some good moments but it's not my taste.
Why in the world remake Patrick? The original wasn't even all that stellar. Sharni Vinson (You're Next) almost makes this worthwhile in another good horror performance but Charles Dance playing a Dr. Moreau and Rachel Griffiths playing a Nurse Ratchet really sink it. In the end a comatose guy with mental powers just isn't scary. Documentary filmmaker/film archivist Hartley should know better.
