8.5/10 (26.11.2015) a wonderful father, whom I've never had by perfect Max von Sydow and the story of Eric, that touched me so. At all one of the most important films in the cultural heritage of Denmark by friend and follower of Ingmar Bergman.
A charming film about a father and a song fighting for a better life. It is a classic story about poverty, dreamers, despots and survivors. A sweet story in early childhood, highly recommended.
Technically perfect and artistically amusing.
A very nice example for classical narrative cinematic style. But I think Bille August only partly succeeds in capturing the hardness of social reality so that his world is covered with a kind of nostalgia.
