Our take

For a brief three-film span, Irene Dunne and Cary Grant were one of Hollywood’s great onscreen couples. Uproariously funny in the Leo McCarey romances The Awful Truth and My Favorite Wife, it took director George Stevens to envision them in this moving melodrama.
