Likeable young heroes play new variations on old Demi-Gods that has been told for the last 2000 years. The best with the film is the humor and Uma Thurman's small moments as Medusa. A film that at least introduce young viewers with reading disorders and ADHD to Greek myth. Chris Columbus also did the first Harry Potter this is obvious an American attempt at making a new franchise in the same vein as Potter.
Chris Columbus took Rick Riordan's best selling young adult novel, changed the basic plot, and removed the central conflict of the entire series, turning it into a turgid and bland kiddie adventure that bears little resemblance to its source material. Completely betrays the integrity of the novel, and more egregiously, isn't a good movie on its own, leaving gaping plot holes in its attempt to make a standalone film.
