It gets slightly better the more I think on it. The obsession with sex in modern relationships is unsurprising and tiresome, but this film manages to make it about more than that, but just barely. Stevens and Hall's sparkling chemistry makes up for the rest.
1.5 Wish the black thesis advisor turned to the camera and said, "All you rich white people--I don't know what is going on, but you have to stop acting so dumb." This movie feels dated; if it were made in the 80s, would it seem less clichéd? Hall deserves much better scripts. Unbelievable that this couple has not wrestled with monogamy before, and that no one goes to therapy. Arnaud is divine. Stevens is dull.
