Darker in tone and more ambition doesn't always mean it's better as the characters are ruined and are not that fun anymore. Miss the lightness of the first one. Too much effects, sea monsters and supernatural creatures. Noisy and new addition Naomie Harris is terribly annoying and wooden. Also too long.
Semplicemente geniale.
Blending bizarre humour and refreshingly fast-paced but clear action setpieces, it's an odd blockbuster in which the 'heroes' are framed by two forces none of them can best (yet): Davy Jones' monstrous reign over the sea, and Lord Becket's corpocratic tyranny. They struggle solely to retain their own very moral brand of piracy, representing their freedom to roam, to trade, and as Elizabeth puts it, being good men.
AWFUL. Nonsensical, ridiculous plot, silly and over-the top action sequences, too much focus on an entertaining side character (I'm looking at you, Jack.) Radical character changes to suit.... I'm not sure what... It's like being unpleasantly jiggled around for an hour and a half and then deposited out of the theater with nothing to show for it (much like the theme park ride it's based off of.)
