I wanted to see this yesterday for no other reason that there was a child in intensive therapy whose name was Uţă. I didn’t see it tho, got busy with other things. This morning I was told that the kid had died the previous night. I know it’s just a macabre coincidence. Of all colors parents could choose for the funeral bunch they brought to the ward, they took the most intensely murderous violet for lilac and iris.
The english subtitles were in pretty bad shape which made it hard to follow the story. Thus, what became more important was following all the small details, like the masterful camera work, the music of Vivaldi in key scenes and the balance of shadows and light. I missed out on a lot of the conversations taking place so I would love to see the film again with more accomplished subtitles.
