Way better than what I expected it to be, even though it is obviously flawed it manages to contain itself and not be ridiculous. It is an american action movie and a pretty flawed one at that, but you kinda know what you're getting into when you watch a movie like this so I can't complain about that...
There is something innately interesting about the Predator series and mythology. It's a fun concept that appeals to the action fanboy inside me. While Shane Black will try once again to reboot the franchise, Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal do a noble job here. Adrian Brody is really fun to watch. While he's no Arnold, and too be fair that's a ridiculous standard to try to match, he's fully committed.
I loved it just because of the Predators tbh. Interesting scene in the sword fight between the Yakuza and one of the predators. Still surprised how the humans aren't killed with just one shot. Thta would be too easy for those majestic creatures wouldn't it? ehehe I need to collect those masks tho
Could've used without Trejo..... this was not great.... but still, as a fan of the series, I did enjoy it for the most part, but let's face it this flick ain't rocket-science! Shame on you Laurence Fishburne! Ya, you should be ashamed, lol. The script is pretty sloppy
I'm the furthest thing from an action movie fan, and I loved this. Antal clearly has a ton of promise--I haven't seen a movie in quite a while that wowed me with its visual design as much as this did. I strongly doubt the original two Predator flicks are as good. It very smartly recognizes that, in the world of the B-movie, less is more, and thus delivers only what's necessary. This is what the cineplex is all about.
That we are now on an alien planet rather than Earth does further the purpose of the Predator series, but the character puppet show remains rehashed. Also, please learn how to use CGI properly, or the future of film will look as bleak as survival in this movie's jungle.
