3.5. I do admit it: I very much adore the Deakins/Villeneuve aesthetic. It great aurally, too, like Villeneuve's movies are. So the audiovisuals pack a punch and a whack. Gyllenhaal pulls some nice & quite hilariously superfluous method stuff here, all of which I enjoy immensely. The plot is filled with zany red herrings (plus one plot hole) and oh my god it's long, but meh, I enjoyed it.
Solid thriller from Villeneuve's mind. I trully like his storytelling - it catches you from minute one and gets you interested until the end. The one thing: it needed a better ending. A little predictable for my taste. Nicely acted, it's a pack of stars commited to the story. Nice, really nice.
