3.8 stars. Like 'Twin Peaks: The Return', engages in narrative balletics in order to continue a story that would seem to stubbornly resist continuation. Like 'The End of Evangelion' approaches the paradox of providing a sequel to a series which obstensibly climaxed with the teleological omega point of space-time by twisting back on itself in a mobius strip of incrementally infinite epicness!!! Ur retinas will Xplode!
Rebellion rewards people who've stuck with the series from the beginning by taking advantage of our familiarity with the characters and setting by going full SHAFT with the story. 劇団イヌカレー (Gekidan Inu Curry)'s amazing efforts finally get full focus, but the narrative was as wrapped up as it was going to get with the original ending. As a new bookend to the series, Rebellion is slow and unnecessary.
