Our take

Long before winning the Silver Lion for Wife of a Spy, master genre stylist Kiyoshi Kurosawa took Cannes by surprise with this reflection on loneliness and technology. Utterly terrifying, Pulse is a prophetic, intensely eerie cult classic that is still superior to its many imitators.
