Ratings & Reviews

  1. spasmolytic's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Feels like something Stephen King wrote over the weekend as a warm-up. Not bad art direction, but there's not really much else good to say about it.

  2. Andre Flickatina's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

blew my expectations out of the water.. great visuals and the father/son relationship was gutting. atta boy, Henriksen.

  3. dave gunn's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

One of the coolest animatronic monsters in horror film history, and a pretty interesting rural folklore to go along with it. However, the first hour of this film is actually kinda boring, and the killings are severely lacking.

  4. msmichel's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Winston graduated to director with this somewhat atmospheric horror film that featured a fine lead turn by Lance Henriksen (fresh off 'Near Dark' and 'Aliens').A revenge thriller with a 'golem' like creature let loose in the backwoods is a good excuse for some well done creature effects. Deep or even logical it is not. Worth a look for the genre hounds but stay away from the derivative sequels.

  5. Jason Callen's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Winston was clearly paying attention when he was around Ridley Scott.

  6. Joshua's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Pretty sure this is 1988, not '89. Pumpkinhead prevents a fall to boring mediocrity with its mean streak, atmospheric touches and a fantastic monstrous antagonist. Or protagonist gone wrong. Whichever. Far from a classic, but a 6/10 still.

  7. Westley's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Very good at creating a creepy atmosphere. Great lighting and creature effects. Thematically coherent. Good movie.

  8. Johnny DuBiel's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Surprisingly works VERY well, in no small part to do with Winston's brilliant creation of the monster. While used sparingly, it is still quite frightening, and feels real (it doesn't have the problems that other monsters from the same time period had). Adult handling of themes regarding the morality and revenge, especially for a horror flick. Henriksen is at his best, which is perfect for a movie like this one.

  9. Scout Tafoya's rating of the film Pumpkinhead

Simple but elegantly so. In my mind, a masterpiece of understatement and one of the most awesome special effects ever created.
