The film doesn’t have much to do with the form of what’s known as Quartet. In 1991 I was despairing with the amount of unedited diaristic material that I had. I was searching for ways of dealing with it. This film is a result of my searching.”.

Probably sums up Mekas' career for me; beautiful but almost always wasted potential. The soundtracks of his films not only add nothing of value to his films, but they weaken the viewing experience. The combination of completely out of place music and his irritating voice turn a wonderful (silent) short, into a disappointing experience. Essentially, all Mekas films need to be viewed with the sound turned off!
