Ratings & Reviews

  1. Jack Joseph Kahn's rating of the film Rain

  2. The Mayor Of Hell's rating of the film Rain

Another shining example of precode cinema and the taboo subjects they could tackle lending them a timeless air of modernity. Joan Crawford is fabulous. Unfortunately she was brainwashed by the bad critical reviews she received upon the release of the film. Lewis milestone is a brilliant technician and the film is filled with progressive shots and movements. The subject matter: religious hypocrisy...yes!

  3. Howard Fritzson's rating of the film Rain

I actually like Joan Crawford in this film. She is more than a match for the great Walter Huston. The story, itself, is not so fresh.

  4. Diderot's rating of the film Rain

A nice screen presence by Crawford (a great bookend of intro and final appearance). The Maugham story is so tawdry to begin with, but probably for that reason lends itself to film pretty well.
