What a trip. This seemed like a deranged metaphor for capitalism and fossil fuel and climate change. It's like the aliens were a bio weapon of a consequence of our wrongdoing on the planet. They seem to cover everything, even themselves on a substance that is crude oil-like. And they are harbengers of doom. So, they are like the planet's guts eating itself and us in the process (because of us). Does it make sense?

  2. Raymond Likes Subtitles's rating of the film Rakka

Technically brilliant but takes itself way too seriously.

  3. El Biffo's rating of the film Rakka

Sci-Fi/Body Horror, really not my cuppa tea. This 22-minute film must have cost a fortune, what a waste of money. There's something about Sigourney Weaver, tho.

  9. Henrique Amud's rating of the film Rakka

The visuals and atmosphere are no problems for Blomkamp, but he desperately needs a worthy screenwriter. I can't believe the guy who wrote District 9 is stuck in this kind of vague and uningaging sci-fi storytelling. But if you're coming for the visuals only you'll be very pleased with it.

  10. chanandre's rating of the film Rakka

Courtesy of Steam. Can we let him direct Alien 5 already? Even if he doesn't, this is a great Alien companion piece as it is. (Can he please adapt Half-Life to film?) Blonde girl looks like a cross between Newt from Alien and Estike from Sátántangó. Corpses hanging from a rusty and decaying Eiffel tower? Wow wow. Blomkamp & Villeneuve are to the 10's (and beyond) what Ridley Scott was to the late 70s and early 80s.<3
