Ratings & Reviews

  1. Warren Spratley's rating of the film Raphael or the Debauched One

Deville is an artist who, as Sallitt notes, saturates his narratives & outward themes w/ romanticism while using technique which disrupts coherence & is often dissociated from the functions of story--all of this as a way of remarking on modernity. The issues of social construction & innate identity--the "libertine," the "virginal" darling--become entangled, confused, deconstructed; undoing comes 2 be the only option.
