OK film. Nothing spectacular. Hayward and Power are good. Hostage dramas should be filled with more tension than this film has. You need to be made to believe that the hostages lives hang in the balance. I never felt that with this movie. Oh, and the opening and closing narrations are cheesy.
Terrific, nimble filmmaking from an underrated director. Takes a quite serviceable script along the lines of THE PETRIFIED FOREST and THE DESPERATE HOURS - desperate gunmen holding a few innocents hostage - and invests it with beauty and tension. There are a few suspense scenes worthy of Hitchcock here. The usually awful Tyrone Power is unusually fine; Susan Hayward's never been better.
