Ratings & Reviews

  1. dionysus67's rating of the film Remorques

Excellent melodrama which unfortunately Gremillon could not complete properly. There is great rhythm in this one and the performances by Gabin and the ravishing Morgan are of the highest standards. Beautifuly lit (particularly the gentle shades as tragedy is about to unfold) it is marked by some extremely well made and fluid tracking shots, by crystalline depth of field and by a genuine eye for human fallibility.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Remorques

  3. patchwork's rating of the film Remorques

  4. Log Lady's rating of the film Remorques

A pervasive sadness behind everyone's eyes while waiting for their fate to come true. When the storm starts, you just have to accept that it will do what it wants. No use resisting.

  5. El Biffo's rating of the film Remorques

French Film Noir with the great Jean Gabin. Simple, sad and heavy, like the heaviness of the sea, which anchors this story and the characters in it. 4.7 stars

  8. StellaWasaDiver's rating of the film Remorques

Great story and acting. I loved the chemistry between Gabin and his two loves. The use of miniatures for the stormy water scenes was effective, although the modern audience might find it antiquated and perhaps laughable. Cpt. Laurent's wife was such a tragic character and gets all my sympathy. Unhappy endings are the best.
