In this animated edition of the Resident Evil saga, zombie slayer Claire Redfield and government agent Leon Kennedy reunite in a busy American airport, where a T-virus-infected zombie has been set loose amid the civilian crowd.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
monster scenes near the end were epic - reminded me of when you think you beat the final boss and then KABLAM theres more. great portrayal of Claire, and was funny seeing Hunnigan as well... a real Moneypenny/Bond vibe going on with her and Leon
Degeneration manages to capture the cheesy goodness of the Resident Evil games all the while keeping a breezy pace. The film is unashamed fan service; a tribute to fans of the series. Just like the actual series, goofy and cliche is the bread n' butter. The animation is a bit on the unimpressive side, at times bizarrely stilted. Still, the film is a lot more fun than it should be, much like the games.
Perhaps it's just years of gaming coming to the fore, but it was almost pleasant to watch this 'feature-length cutscene'. Game logic works throughout, and I felt ready to start a playable sequence after each scene of exposition.
