  • msmichel's rating of the film Restless Creature: Wendy Whelan

Wonderful documentary about ballerina Wendy Whelan who performed with the New York City Ballet company for 30 (!!) years. Whelan's courage, strength, tenacity and artistry stand out as she defies the odds to leave the company on her own terms...on a high note. The betrayal of one's own body as it ages is cruel especially if one's vocation and self are married with its performance. Touching and inspiring.

  • Loz Loory's rating of the film Restless Creature: Wendy Whelan

Excellent documentary on the last years Wendy Whelan spends in the New York City Ballet. 30 years as a ballerina is an astoundingly long career, and so one can understand her puzzlement as her body begins to break down and her retirement begins to become inevitable. Stunning rehearsal and performance footage! Her intense focus, grace, and athleticism are fantastic, as well as her lack of typical "diva" behavior.
