Ratings & Reviews

  1. Arthur Freitas's rating of the film Revue

A minor disappoinment, maybe. But Loznitsa is always rewarding in some way.

  2. Graf von Zahl's rating of the film Revue

Trying to write something about the movie couple of days after I saw it only to realize I completely forgotten everything. I guess this is not the best recommendation.

  3. Funda Can Çuvalcı's rating of the film Revue

  4. fearraigh's rating of the film Revue

A fascinating compendium of old Soviet propaganda broadcasts which presented the best face possible of a relentlessly optimistic world. The audience are all in on the joke––that the narrative is disingenuous throughout––but there is nonetheless genuine joy and art to be seen. A fluid interrogation of one's understanding of history that recalls another great archive documentary, The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu.

  5. ysbil's rating of the film Revue

Moving archive images depicting vividly the lives of a bygone era, the ideology of a generation. The world represented seemed so victorious and glorious, where every problem had a solution, where the enthusiam was shared. We all know the irony and the tragedy.

  6. captainfez's rating of the film Revue

A tender look behind the Iron Curtain, through the gauze of propaganda.

  7. katerpink's rating of the film Revue

Gathering of scraps from soviet propagandistic movies. Opposing scenes from villages and cultural events (theatre, concerts, speeches).

  8. Viacheslav's rating of the film Revue

Long and at times repetitive, but stil impressive.
