  • El Biffo's rating of the film Riot on 42nd Street

2.5* This has a lot of nostalgic appeal to me. Filmed on location on 42nd Street's Grindhouse Strip, where I saw many, many movies back in the 70's. The loss of this seedy cinema & sex district typifies the sanitization of Manhattan, which resulted in a place where no one seems to live anymore. Last time I was in Manhattan, it was just selfie-sticks everywhere, and not nearly as interesting as this very cheezy movie.
