Ratings & Reviews

  1. msmichel's rating of the film Robinson in Ruins

Third entry in the 'Robinson' series finds Vanessa Redgrave taking on the narrative duties for the late Paul Scofield. The film contains some beautiful ethnographic images but lacks the focus of the two previous entries and often the pastoral images lull the viewer into somnambulism and lose focus on the filmmaker's intent.

  2. fearraigh's rating of the film Robinson in Ruins

Probably the weakest of the trilogy (Vanessa Redgrave's narration lacks the insouciant irony of Paul Schofield's) but a pleasure nonetheless.

  3. Through A Glass, Darkly's rating of the film Robinson in Ruins

Wonderful essay film and worthy sequel to Robinson in London.

  4. Richmond Hill's rating of the film Robinson in Ruins

More dryly observed musings from Robinson, this time taking in British institutional failings over the centuries (notably their impact on the natural environment) with a sketchy thesis of anti-capitalism and nature overcoming man's ruination of the world about him. Largely successful, if a little caught- up in it’s own deliberately slow mechanics.
