  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Romance for Lovers

Bizarre musical-romance-drama from Andrei Konchalovsky's Soviet period, when he was doing his most interesting work. Seems a film about the death of youthful dreams & ideals, as our main male character goes from dancing, pop-song singing happy lad to typical Soviet drudge: for much of Part Two the film switches from its lovely color to a drab black and white. Undeniably daffy, yet kinda marvelous.
