The only reason this modernization gets away with being so poor it's because it is based on such a delightful and phenomenal source material. However, this adaption is sinful in many ways; mostly, because it ruins the mystery of the baby and cuts half of the mystery that the original so well preserved (e.g., showing the baby, etc.).
