Ratings & Reviews

  1. Andrew Miller's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

    Difficult to watch, but necessary.

  2. Bonnet Michel's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

  3. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

  4. mpho3's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

Speaking of his own experience as a former Khmer Rouge prisoner, Panh has stated: "What you saw and lived does not stop. It is this memory that brought me to the medium of cinema." The memories relived here are chilling, and particularly so, given that the film ends without offering any sort of insight or resolution. How can there be when decades later the perpetrators fail to acknowledge any wrongdoing?

  5. Algitya's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

Ketersediaan mereka untuk menyesali perbuatan mereka patut diberi salut, Meskipun terdengar ngilu >.<

  6. Juhana Inkeriläinen's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

Simulating the nationalistic machine. Rithy exposures one way to resolve the problem the "past-as-present", and perhaps even more crucial questions.

  7. Movie Blabber's rating of the film S21: The Khmer Rouge Death Machine

The way the regime and it's methods are laid bare here is horrifying beyond belief, with people acting out entire routines and detailing events without even flinching, while survivors confront the former soldiers with heartbreaking frankness. Very depressing and horrific.
