Meeting Dr. Sun

Xingdong daihao: Sun Zongshan

Directed by Yee Chih-yen
Taiwan, 2014

Meeting Dr. Sun is an exceptionally dry heist comedy that uses repeated dialogue, obtuse characters and intentionally awkward performances to offer a seemingly simple message about friendship and cooperation.

  • meepy's rating of the film Meeting Dr. Sun

Poverty & social classes summarised in a hilarious plot of dark humour. A statue of Sun Yat-sen literally representing money, which they fight to steal. In the end, they have to work together to get the statue- perhaps telling us that we should learn to distribute our resources & share. I love the fact that the characters are all teenagers, commenting on the way adults fight over money like children.
