I feel like utter shit at this moment, and will for most of the day, probably, so I'm just going to sit right down and watch some people suffer...no just kidding, I haven't seen this but I feel obliged to warnings you, it's a piece of shit...I "saw" the first two, and now I...but I must go...
By the third entry this film series revisit so many leaving plot threads and go through so many flashbacks that it is only possible to access for the most devoted fans and lovers of the long-running saga. It do leave some gruesome pictures on the mind and the ending is anything but happy.
A very violent telenovela riddled with capitalistic western white guilt. This franchise will never end. Like Cat Power sang 'I'll love this love forever'. Saw will love to wreck its characters forever. Without end. Pain and suffering sans fin. I saw half of this on mute, cos I did not want to summon Saint Greg. It worked. [Já só faltam 6 Romeiro :P]
The ending twist still comes completely out of left field, but it has some of the most surprisingly sensitive character moments in the series, and benefits from a measured pace; genuine effort is put into Amanda and Kramer's relationship. Here, we begin to see the once-omniscient Jigsaw's legacy as a failed experiment, mostly through his wayward accomplices and spiteful victims.
What is interesting about the franchise is that, at this point, one of the former victims has become the killer's protegé. And (only now I realized) the series continued to 7 titles, so Jigsaw continued to raise fans. Jigsaw is not like Freddy Krueger, though. He was like a little demon in our nightmares, he wanted no fans, he was like the boogeyman. Jigsaw is here to punish us, he is the Inquisition, in real life.
