Ratings & Reviews

  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Sayon's Bell

Propaganda film meant to convince the colonials that Japan is a stern but fair father for whom it is an honor to die, where benign Japanese cheerfully police and school a subjugated Taiwanese mountain people - whoops!, I mean fervent Japanese patriots in charming costumes! Has the director's usual lovely outdoor photography and lyric scenes, though no amount of those can overcome the foulness of the film's content.
