While the titillating aspects of the story automatically place the film under the general rubric of “trash,” Scandal gleefully embraces its category without being unduly dumb or irresponsible about it… As a result of the film’s deliberate incompleteness, we can’t entirely account for all the motivations of the two leading characters, and this works to the film’s advantage by giving the spectator some interpretive leeway in understanding just what happened.
