Nice deviation from dialectical montage, this impressionist film includes some very nice shots, particularly of nature; when it moves interiors it follows a beautiful song, coupled to shots of Rodin's sculpture before it 'explodes' into a melodic supernova. Great stuff!
3.5 - It is a shame there are so few of these wonderful film poems in the form of Kirsanoff/Epstein's work. They have the panache and interesting visual form of modern day experimental film, but also have interesting and simple tales which don't need the use of words and may just convey certain moods, or states. I confess that early cinema isn't at all interesting to me; but these film poems are wonderful.
