Gran historia.

  3. Mohammad Aboomar's rating of the film Serpent

A fallen Samurai struggles for recognition. A masterpiece through and through.

Until I get to see this, Tanaka's 1966 remake (good in its own right, but apparently modelled very closely on this, down to body language of protagonist) will have to do. Have seen final fight scene and it's awesome.

  5. Jinsie's rating of the film Serpent

One of the very earliest examples of thrilling chambara choreography. The liberalism of Japan's Taishō 'democracy' period is on full display: here we have a critical morality tale of an honourable man, who falls prey to a superficial and hypocritical society.
