Ratings & Reviews

  1. SpacePirate's rating of the film Seven Years Bad Luck

A solid comedy, which if not for a few flaws could be considered a minor classic. Unfortunately, the pacing of the film drags it times and the majority of the funniest gags are in the beginning half of the film. Still, this is silent comedy in its top form, and Linder was one of the original masters. 4 stars, def worth checking out

  3. nein's rating of the film Seven Years Bad Luck

    Booooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

  4. Roscoe's rating of the film Seven Years Bad Luck

Linder's charming, and there are some fine moments, especially the famed mirror gag which is actually superior to the famed Marx Brothers version in DUCK SOUP. Alas, Linder's plotting is too scattershot, and the film just falls apart in random gags.

  5. Myles O'Mara's rating of the film Seven Years Bad Luck

I thought that this film was hilarious. Although I don't have the patience to intentionally watch black and white films, I happened to watch this film on TCM one night and I was happy to have seen it. I can understand why Linder was compared to Chaplin; I thought Linder displayed a slower paced and less crude sense of humor than Chaplin.

  6. Amadeus Magnus's rating of the film Seven Years Bad Luck

One of the best comedies of silent era. Mirror gag used in Duck Soup later.
