So ahead of its time yet of its time that it makes the idea of time irrelevant. Tony Curtis plays Sex, Natalie Wood plays the Single Girl, Henry Fonda plays the fool, Lauren Bacall the fool's wife, and all of them play up their repressed libidos on the verge of explosion, or worse, exposure. Fast-paced and car-chased, clearly a kind of model for Bogdanovich's What's Up Doc?
Such an irritating movie, which is too bad because Natalie Wood and Lauren Bacall have such great comedic timing. God, there’s this scene where Wood is crying on the phone to her mother about being in love with a married man, and it almost makes up for the mediocrity.
