  1. Fabio Osvaldo Carta's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  3. MiloBOK's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

A brilliantly paced thriller from the master of cinema himself, Alfred Hitchcock. Uncle Charlie is a chilling villain who is one of Hitchcock's best, and the suspense and tension are consistent all the way through, keeping audiences successfully on edge. An essential thriller that was Hitchcock's favourite of his filmography.

  4. Howard Fritzson's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

3.5 stars. Very well acted, and a clever plot but I thought it was relatively unexciting compared to Hitchcock's other films

  5. MvM.'s rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  9. Louisa Savignon's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

3.5 // uncle charlie left me asscared

  10. Thomas Dods's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

I think this is Hitchcock's favourite film? Absolute classic with a delicious performance from Cotton. Pretty much faultless psychological thriller.

  11. Histioteuthis's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

The like "sleepy small town vs. sinister big city" stuff might be a little annoying but Joseph Cotten oozes really well so it's pretty fun

  12. SoulBrotherNo1's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  13. Alexander Dunkelberger's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

It's about coming to a realization about the world and it’s less delightful corners. The young Charlie begins to learn about the meanings of loyalty and morality when faced with the discovery that her uncle is a (likely) fetishistic (definitely) murderer. The fact that the killings could be interpreted as sexual in part, makes the air of unease that much more clear in the relationship between the two Charlies.

  14. James Mackin's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

One of Hitchcock's most underrated films.

  15. Swayze's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

A masterpiece way ahead of it's time both in the psychology of a family and cinematic pacing. Of course it's Hitchcock that made it. The beats are so distinguishable yet they are surprising. It's a maze of character changes that show a real development arch which is of course brilliant and efficient screenwriting.

  16. angelicidea's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

Sharp wit and constant tension. The two Charlies fight it out.

  17. Andrew Miller's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

I agree with Hitchcock-- his best film. The ending is exquisitely ambiguous.

  18. richardlawrn's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  19. RoRoRoro's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  20. SpacePirate's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

My personal fav Hitchcock, and markedly different than his other American films. This feels like a mashup with his British style. Also, Joseph Cotten was one of the finest imo.

  21. Pinguin's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

There were many possible ways to resolve Shadow of a Doubt's plot poetically, but like in too many Hitchcock movies, the ending feels like a cop-out and an afterthought. The man may be a master of suspense, he should really have found someone else to write the ending to some of his movies.

  22. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

  23. AALC's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

The character of uncle Charlie was not convincing enough for me...

  24. Zac Weber's rating of the film Shadow of a Doubt

Hitchcock really builds the suspense throughout the entire film, per usual. That uncle is creepy, but it seems phony occasionally. Shadow of a Doubt is still a great film, but not one of my personal favorites from Hitchcock.
