Around me, among cinephiles and critics, the Farrelly are extremely popular. I must miss the point because i hardly find it clever. I guess it pretends to be dumb to surprise you with some unexpected truth but, well, it messes up a bit too much with idiotic stuff not be itself idiotic. The basic idea is cinematic. But again : the "subtelty" of the all thing is beyond my understanding.
It always surprises me by how much people don't like this movie at all. I don't think it is as bad as people see it is. It is a dumb studio comedy, but I think it is half a step above the rest of them. The reason as to why I make that claim is because this one has a real heart and true moral to it. A message like the one Shallow Hal preaches is necessary in this vain and image conscious society we live in these days.
