  1. mootz15's rating of the film Shelley

Rosemary's Baby goes political in this one in a fairly obvious and some would say heavyhanded way but what I loved about this movie is the disquieting gothic minimalism which withstands the occasional gory gimmick and delivers a truly disquieting denouement.

  4. Laura Lavorato's rating of the film Shelley

Pleasantly surprised by this atmospheric minimalist horror. It kind of gathers momentum only to lose focus in the end. However it ties in beautifully the supernatural/horror suspense and the more rational maternity/exploitation discourse. Looking forward to watch more from this director.

  6. João R's rating of the film Shelley

Largely better than I anticipated as it stood out for presenting an intimate and eerie breeding journey that initiatets as a ray of hope and care to end as an apathetic and destructive bound. That, however, didn't make it good - it was atmospherically impecable but it was tastless in terms of script.

  7. Ryan Theodores's rating of the film Shelley

It's a shame that this will probably remain largely unseen and unremarked upon, because what it is is a quiet, sensitive, and very minimal take on a familiar concept; a demake of the Omen, and well done.

  8. Luis Pires's rating of the film Shelley

Could be better, but had some good bits.

  9. Mathias Palmberg's rating of the film Shelley

Good movie which plays the familiar pregnancy-horror tropes quite well. There is a whole lot of promise in the austere locations, ominous soundwork, restrained performances and minimalist direction but there is a pervading sense of that the movie needs some sort of release. There is a lot of build up but the pay off never really arrives in the way it needs to. Still this is a good movie but it could´ve been great.
