Pleasantly surprised by this atmospheric minimalist horror. It kind of gathers momentum only to lose focus in the end. However it ties in beautifully the supernatural/horror suspense and the more rational maternity/exploitation discourse. Looking forward to watch more from this director.
Largely better than I anticipated as it stood out for presenting an intimate and eerie breeding journey that initiatets as a ray of hope and care to end as an apathetic and destructive bound. That, however, didn't make it good - it was atmospherically impecable but it was tastless in terms of script.
Good movie which plays the familiar pregnancy-horror tropes quite well. There is a whole lot of promise in the austere locations, ominous soundwork, restrained performances and minimalist direction but there is a pervading sense of that the movie needs some sort of release. There is a lot of build up but the pay off never really arrives in the way it needs to. Still this is a good movie but it could´ve been great.
