Sherlock Jr. is funny, sweet, innovative and overall a cinematic triumph in the era of silent comedy films. Keaton's clever use of amusing sight gags as well as his knowledge of cinematic illusion and mastery of performing his own stunts makes this film one not to miss.
Sherlock Jr primarily stands out for one of Buster's trademark chases and his exceptional athleticism -Keaton was badly injured when filming- rather than its witty comedy where perhaps The General has the edge. Some outstanding special effects for the 20s however the soundtrack is surprisingly avant garde and arguably off-putting - it does not enhance the comic value of the visuals. Overall classic Keaton.
