An enigmatic, stylish, terrifying and catatonic atmosphere in the beautifully dark and inspiring Prague. Easily inspired by Goth novels from Poe, notably in the case of of Mr Waldemar. The opressive ambience is really efficient. Despite the film’s plot suffers of a real lack of consistency according to me this represents Aldo Lado in one of his best.
Very entertaining giallo mystery from director Aldo Lado employees a unique flashback structure that cleverly keeps the plot spinning toward its shocking climax. Plenty of suspense style and a strong cast that includes the scene-stealing Ingrid Thulin, a must for giallo fans. Very possibly a major influence on Kubrick's 'Eyes Wide Shut'.
One of the more atmospheric and original gialli of the 70s despite stealing a bit from Rosmarys baby. Prague is an ideal city for the genre. Shame that some of the cast is a bit wasted. Adorf is badly dubbed and does not really have enough to do while legendary Bergman actress thulin adds acting chops to the film but sorel is given most of the screen time. The ending makes you forgive them film for the slower moments
