A cinematic masterpiece.
Big middle finger to the fairy tales. The pop-culture approach on the classic tales really benefited Dreamworks to distinguish from the Disney style, creating a monster franchising able to grant them a place on the animation studios first class.
The first one was good, the other Shrek movies not so much and destroyed the quality of the first one.
Still the best Shrek in the series, fresh and quirky for the time, although the 'Let's take the piss out of kids films'-thing has been done to death by now. Eddie Murphy steals the show.
