While husband Tim is away during WWII, Anne Hilton copes with problems on the homefront. Taking in a lodger, Colonel Smollett, to help make ends meet and dealing with shortages and rationing are minor inconveniences compared to the love affair daughter Jane and the Colonel’s grandson conduct.

Oh, it's pure cornball, golly-gee-whiz, entertainment, and I'm pretty sure there's a new cavity or two in my teeth now, but I still finished this film feeling happy. That isn't to say I wouldn't have cut out some moments (maybe an hour or so), but if you have a hankering for some old-fashioned, syrupy nostalgia, then this film is the perfect pick.
