Ratings & Reviews

  1. HKFanatic's rating of the film Sky on Fire

As with Spielberg or Eastwood, you know that a late era Ringo Lam movie isn't likely to match the lofty status of the films he produced in his younger, hungrier years - but there's perhaps an even greater pleasure in watching a seasoned master at work. Lam's meticulous framing, practical stuntwork, and biting social commentary are on display here, and prove why he's still a welcome voice in global action cinema.

  2. msmichel's rating of the film Sky on Fire

Ringo Lam's 'comeback' hits a stumbling block with this generic and often ridiculous film concerning stem cells, cancer cures, private security kamikazes and corrupt doctors amongst characters you couldn't care any less about. Derivative in almost every aspect with plot holes wide enough to fit your Hong Kong movie collection. By the time the sky ignites the flame of one's own interest has been extinguished.
