Our take

Tipping its hat to Buñuel’s Belle de Jour, this bitingly satirical take on the eponymous romantic fable is an audacious one-off from novelist-turned-filmmaker Julia Leigh. A languid interrogation of voyeurism, sublimation, and commodification, Sleeping Beauty is a pointedly feminist erotic odyssey.
