During the brief but stylish opening of "Sleepless," the movie's's title card ends up appearing just below a helicopter shot of the Mandalay Bay hotel at night, a coincidence that now lends the film an ominous air it could never really hope to live up to. The picture that follows is a competent, nuts-and-bolts action thriller. Or, to damn it with further faint praise, "Sleepless" is the perfect airplane movie.
Fox and Monaghan are much better than this garbage. They should prob fire their agents. Boring and predictable, with so many implausible moments I found myself praying the end to come sooner and put me out of my misery. If I wasn't watching this with others, it would've been stopped in first 15 mins. Further proof of bottom of the barrel dreck Hollywood seems to think passes for great filmmaking nowadays. 1 star
What Michael Mann (or Refn) would not have done with this material? The best performance by Michelle Monaghan this side of 'Gone Baby Gone' (probably even better) and a waste of a magnificent actor as such as Jamie Foxx. The editing/montage on the Drive-like/Heat-like intro/opening scene is one for the books. But then it gets super boring. And the script buries the actors. Foxx & Monaghan deserve way better than this
