There was a lot I loved and hated about this, so it gets an ambivalent three stars. It definitely was unlike anything else I've ever seen and they were not afraid to take plenty of chances and to try new things. Lucas is a hideous man hard to look at for an entire film, but the story and large cast of characters somehow managed to work.
Bizarre, crude, and unsettling performances combined with a quirky production design adds up to a surprisingly funny (although completely absurdist) movie. The camera work was at times really nice and crisp, particularly at night, but most of the time it had a really tacky over-saturated look. All in all, worth checking out - if even just for Lucas' performance (the suicide set-up, in particular).
